Hi,

My English is not good, please forgive me grammatical errors. :-)

Until now, the program ran without any problems. Today I wanted to
syncronize my gpx file from Geocaching.com and got an error message
below:

>>> error parsing file 'File caches.gpx PI must not start with xml (position:unknown@1:5 in java.io. BufferedReader@40752d40)' <<<

This error occurs only when I take a newer file. If I take an older
file, it is synced correctly.

I also have reinstalled GeoHunter and database, but nothing happens.
It's always the same error displayed.
On the mobile phone from a friend works the app correctly with the
newer and older gpx-file.

Perhaps someone has a solution for this problem or can give me a tip.

My Handy is a Samsung Galaxy S2

Hi Thomas,
If I understand correct, the same GPX file works with GeoHunter on another phone?
I suggest you try to generate a new GPX file and import that one instead. It looks like the file you have contains some error.

The same file works absolutly correct on his smartphone, but not on
mine smartphone.
He has the same version and settings of GeoHunter on his smartphone.

If I open the gpx-file with easy-GPS and re-save them with a new name,
then all descriptions and icons are gone and I get only the icon of
the bear paw displayed.

Tomorrow I will do a hard reset of my smartphone and hope that after
the reset everything working properly again.

I don't think resetting your phone will make any difference.
It's more probable that the file is corrupted on your phone.

There's a bug report of the same problem:
http://code.google.com/p/geohunter/issues/detail?id=125
So I guess gc.com changed their format recently.

hmm ..

I thank you for the quick replies to my question.

I will now wait and see what happens.
If I have time tonight at work, I will compare the two gpx files if
something has changed and what has changed.

Ok, good. If you find a clear change and it's not too big, I can add it soon.

tonight I've looked at the file with notepad-editor and found at the
beginning unknown signs.

I am not familiar with xml and have no idea which app can edit the gpx-
file correctly.
If I edit the file in an xml-editor (e.g. Notepad++), than the file
can not be opened in easyGPS or GeoHunter.

That's written in an other forum-post:

>> Typically you get this if you extra whitespace before XML declaration -- this is not allowed; if you do have xml declaration, it MUST start without any leading whitespace. And on the other hand, processing instructions (PI) are not allowed to have target name of "xml", hence error message. <<

I had experienced the same issue but very thankfully, this bug was
fixed with the Geocaching.com site update on March 13th 2012. Phew, I
was really worried that I wouldn't be able to use GeoHunter any
longer! I still prefer it over using my Garmin Oregon ;-)
