Greetings All:
I wanted to point you to this very useful interactive map:
The ArcGIS Living Atlas Selected Live Feeds Portfolio
It contains about 12 layers showing selected live feeds, including air quality, drought, recent and future precipitation, stream gauges, and a few others.
https://www.arcgis.com/apps/instant/portfolio/index.html?appid=3a6c8eda94c049c9aa63eec789b056f3
You could use it at the beginning of each week as a discussion point with students to assess ‘current enviro conditions’ across the country, and to teach the idea of the Earth as a dynamic planet. You could do this with 1 computer and a projector, or ideally, having students explore, ask questions, and discover answers using the above map on their own devices. In addition, if you’d like to dig into it further, you and your students could make similar kinds of portfolio (and other) web mapping applications with the ArcGIS platform.
