to geoengineering

Dear colleagues,

The Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the UCLA School of Law is seeking a highly energetic and entrepreneurial person to serve as Project Director for the Geoengineering Law and Policy Project.

The project conducts research, policy engagement, and collaborative and consultative activities on potential active interventions to limit human and environmental harms from climate change. The project’s specific focus is on the novel legal, policy, and governance challenges that these potential interventions pose, and potential legal and policy responses to address them. These potential interventions, and specifically their governance challenges, are growing rapidly in prominence and controversy

The Project Director will help to initiate and implement a set of high-impact activities to advance understanding, capacity, and practice in governing geoengineering research, assessment, and potential use for broad, equitable human and environmental benefit.

The position requires significant professional experience and demonstrated effectiveness working in high-stakes areas of climate, environmental, or technology policy that present challenges similar to those of geoengineering. Specific prior engagement in geoengineering debates is helpful by not required.

Further information about the position and instructions how to apply are at: https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/JPF10063

Review of applications will begin on February 15, 2025 and continue until the position is filled.

Best wishes,

Ted
