I am puzzled by the difference between the numbers for cloud drop number
concentration of 171 and 133/cm3 for the Pacific in table 1 of the
Korhonen, Carslaw an Romakkaniemi paper and the 40 to 67/cm3 given by
Bennartz and the even lower values for many regions shown in the map by
Rob Wood. The Bennartz paper and Rob's map are attached. Could it be
that there is a bias due to data from short range aircraft?
We must remember that the change of reflectivity has a log response so
it is much easier if you start with clean air.
