I will be leading a one hour webinar August 25th at 12:15 PM EDT on how language can help us restore a safe climate based on my new book A Climate Vocabulary of the Future.

The webinar is sponsored by the Sustainability and Security Forum housed at the George Washington University.

Registration is free - see below- and a recording will be available if you can’t make the live meeting.

I intend to discuss a number of the often overlapping terms used in the geoengineering/direct climate cooling/sunlight reflection/albedo enhancement/rebrightening and drawdown/negative emissions/CDR/CCS spaces.

I will also do a reading from the 2035 scenario included in the book that describes how humanity came together to reverse the climate crisis by finally abandoning the ERA - emission reductions alone - paradigm and deploying the Climate Triad.

The well known climate author Kim Stanley Robinson has called the book “a SciencePoem, an Inspiration and a Prophecy.”

Blending the realms of hard science, sociology, research, and even poetry, this book offers a fresh perspective on the concept of 'climate.' Herb's visionary work challenges conventional thinking and invites us to explore new dimensions of imagination, courage, and action in the face of environmental challenges.

A prolific career in shaping the future of communities and societies, Herb brings a wealth of climatological, environmental, technical, and political insights to the table.

Readers will learn the importance of terms like; guilt per gallon, comfort rationing, heat hate, the Robin Carbonhood tax, Friends of the Enemies of the Earth, and the Kardashian Climate Index. A Climate Vocabulary of the Future also includes a 2035 Vision that cleverly weaves many of the entries into an exciting and hopeful narrative for how the world can truly restore a safe climate.

From unraveling the complexities of the crises we face to envisioning the transformative actions needed for a sustainable future, this webinar is a must-attend for anyone passionate about forging a positive path forward.
