ONLY 1 week to register!

Dear Colleagues,

There is still a possibility to register for the Climate Engineering Conference 2014: Critical Global Discussions which will take place August 18th - 21st 2014 in Berlin, Germany. As the first major international conference on the subject of climate engineering, it aims to bring together both new and established stakeholders from research, policy, and civil society to explore how this controversial new debate impacts our efforts to create a sustainable future.

One of the topics that might be linked to your research is large scale natural carbon sequestration, addressed in particularly in the session "Biogenic Carbon Sequestration: Multifunctionality for global resilience. In my opinion, this highlights the only option of climate change mitigation that is currently realistic and offers additional benefits (see more in the session abstract in the conference websites). The session is scheduled to take place from 2:30pm-5pm on Wednesday, August 20th, featuring talks, a panel discussion, and the possibility to present and discus case study investigations. Still, poster presentations about work related to the topic are highly welcome.

If you are interested, I would like to encourage you to come to register unil the 9th of June, come to the conference and share your ideas with us.

I would be very happy to discuss further details and to welcome you in Berlin in August. Please forward this email to anyone you think might be interested!

With warmest regards.

Rüdiger Grote in behalf of the organizers.

CEC14 is hosted by the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS), an international, interdisciplinary hybrid between a research institute and a think tank. Located in Potsdam, Germany, this publicly funded institute promotes research and dialogue between science, politics and society on developing pathways to global sustainability.
