Dear Colleagues,

I recommend this recently published paper on the climate change "moral hazard" argument that I don't think has been distributed on the lists above: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S221209632100053X

I wholeheartedly agree with the authors who make an excellent and carefully constructed case for what (I think) many of us have been saying for some time.

BTW - I came across this while looking for references for this draft proposed paper on "The Urgent Case for Climate Cooling": https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TowThwi6j6cX3iLGBRrj22D30cYhKa_9/edit

For those who are interested this Thursday's 7/14  upcoming HPAC meeting will be devoted to going over this draft. Editorial comments and suggestions are welcome (folks on the HPAC googlegroups list should be able to make suggested edits to the document)!

Pages 7-9 of the document include an outline of cooling methods with references to papers authored by many folks in the lists above - your reviews of these very short cooling method summaries would be most welcome!

Best,

 Thanks Ron.

Just took a quick look at the paper and yes it’s a valuable addition to our anti-moral hazard arsenal.

We should think about coming up with a better term then ‘risk response feedback’ as I don’t think that’s going to catch on very quickly or easily.

Currently all this talk about cooling and even CDR being moral hazards is in my view little more than an ‘immoral hazard’ itself.
