Dear colleagues,

I am a recent member of the list, and I have been following it for a couple of months. First of all, thanks a lot for the interesting information you are providing. I am not a climatologist, mainly a system scientist interested in renewable energy and on the renewable transition, and I am discovering that, even in the most optimistic assumptions, it is nearly impossible to bring emissions to zero fast enough to avoid major damage to the ecosystem

Just like me, you may have noted how the dreaded term "geoengineering" is rapidly gaining attention everywhere. It is still badly misunderstood, but at this point plenty of people seem to see it as a last ditch effort. On this point, you may be interested on a post of mine on this subject.
