Geopy Google maps places api request. Please help

Hello everyone,

i am developing an app and i want to be able to use google maps to find public places (bars, resto, etc ...), perform checks in the backend and only send the Json to frontend via rest framework.
how can i do this?
I found geopy and i found this tutorial http://www.rkblog.rk.edu.pl/w/p/shops-near-you-geographic-features-geodjango/. 

Pretty amazing! The only problem is that i am not sure how to make request straight from geopy to google maps places api. In clear, how do i get restaurants and bars near a user from geopy? (restaurant or any other place type from google maps place api)

I don't want to perform this on the frontend because i want a reusable api that can simply be plugged to the frontend. 

Please help!
