Hi all,

I am researching the pros and cons for building a geodesic dome home and didn't like the asphalt shingles.  So I happened upon a guy that used metal shingles made by Reinke Shakes  in Hebron, NE.  The roof looks great and it seems that they have a 50 year lifetime warranty that is transferable to a new owner if the home is sold.

This is the guy that turned me onto the metal roof idea.  Here is his website link:   http://stevetiffany.com/dome.html

The company that makes the metal shingles web site is:  http://www.reinkeshakes.com/
They have a picture of a dome home on their home page with their metal roofing.  Looks great!!!  They even have 9 different colors.  No more cheap looking shingles that only last for 15 years.  50 years is a long time for roofing.  No more leaking geodesic dome roofs that people complain about.

Has anyone else used these metal shingles???  Post pics if you have any.  Thanks.  Maybe I will build that dome after all.  We'll see...

Jason

Oh, forgot to mention... I'm a Newbie to the dome home world.  I'm just contemplating buying and building one of the Timberline Geodesic 45' Dome kits and doing most of the work myself.
