Gerry and I have often discussed various shallow dome options. This is a link to a shallow double layered roof built in Malata based on a geodesic shallow dome of 11V

Hi Ashok,
Thanks for the link to this document on the space frame in Malta. It's an intriguing roof style for a sports stadium. But why did they make it square ;-) ?

Looks like a total of 66 strut lengths for the two layers of the double structure, including the connection struts between the two layers. I wonder how this would compare with a Temcor-style dome with the same topology and double frame.

Dear Gerry
On reading the document I saw that the roof encloses a volley ball court with seating capacity of over 1000 people.
That portion was to be a rectangle.
The roof was fitted in over it.
I have 3 short links to shallow domes used as masonary roofs.
Would that interest you / others on the list?
Ashok

Hi Ashok,
Yes, please post the links you mentioned about shallow domes.

I'm a bit confused about the kinds of attachments now permitted by Google Groups like Geodesic Help. Looks like we can no longer post Excel spreadsheets or graphic models such as SketchUp. Can anyone shed any light on the restrictions?

I'm attaching a screenshot of an Antiprism model of a shallow dome based on the Temcor geometry.... mainly to see whether the file will upload and display okay.

Cheers,

Hi Lev,
Thanks for the explanation. I will try to upload an Excel test file by replying to the daily digest rather than trying to do so directly on the Geodesic Help group website. The file is a simple calculator of dihedral angles.
Cheers,
- Gerry
