Has anyone thought about (1) how Americans in Tornado Alley ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tornado_Alley ) would be better off in geodesic dome homes, and (2) how to market the concept to them?

In 1992, Hurricane Andrew came through Florida and spun off one tornado that made a direct hit a geodesic dome home. The only thing that happened to the building was that some of the windows were blown out.

Hi Paul,

it would be great to see some formal study - wind tunnel tests? - on
their ability to withstand those sorts of forces.

I was reading a Burning Man account some time ago where the author's
original dome wasn't anchored - unfortunately he didn't show any
pictures but indicated it wasn't pretty.

From that account or somewhere it was mentioned that a covered dome
still "catches" quite a bit of wind. So once anchoring is accounted
for...

SImulations always are almost the better way (Reality is best).

However maybe the next can be usefull:

One friend mine have structural calculus about domes.
His name is Jose Farah de Anda, he live in La Paz Baja California , so near to Los Cabos.
