Our Design class today set up Clark's Dome from the group here.

The plan is to add more material and design elements but the initial setup went well!

Thanks Robert!

I don't have pics of the assembly. I was too busy! We went with 5mm, since, Lowes only carried 1/4 in oak and the sheets were too pricey. The build went well. The class had a couple moments where they had to rethink how the pieces were going together. We ran out of washers but it should be fine. Very sturdy! I think we might try and move it across campus assembled.

Thanks again for posting the design! I will update with more images once the class decides how they are going to proceed with adding some design elements.

Great job!  Looks good.  How did the build go and how long?  With extra hands, the 400+ bolts probably go together pretty quickly.
What's the wood material?  I'm still curious if thicker 1/4" plywood would create a stiffer stronger dome, but still have enough flex to be assembled.
Anyway, congratulations!  Are there any pictures during the assembly.  That would be interesting.

We walked the dome down the hill today. Always fun lifting it and stopping traffic! Pretty stable to walk it actually.

Hi Robert, admired your dome in all aspects. Any cutting plan available? More tests and realisations? Curious. Kudos

Dear Robert,
I have gone back to 2015 thread and found there that this dome is a 12 foot diameter dome.
Is this correct?
I also found comments by Taff Goch that suggest parametrizing the Y shaped parts for different diameters may be difficult.
Is there any way to make a paper model and see if this sort of domes radius can be increased to say 12 feet?

Ashok

Hi Robert I was wondering what the notches on the pieces represented and also what the green and pink dots meant on the connection study drawing. How do you decide what connections overlap and which go underneath?

Robert, are you able to advise on projects?
