We use the GeoDB for automated integration tests and use PostGIS in
production.
I guess you can use GeoDB in production as a read only database (like
the EPSG database in GeoTools). We have, as Justin has also pointed
out, experienced some strange errors in connection pooling and closing
of the database which made me doubt its production quality.
