Notice: Game 240 of Geodashing closes on September 30. Even though the archives will remain around indefinitely, no more reports will be accepted nor points awarded for visiting these random places.

Thank you, Scout, for many years of fun, and some interesting (and not-so) places I'd never have seen without your encouraging us to seek out, and delight in, the random. All of your creations gave me enjoyment, and oftentimes tranquility where I did not expect it. Not every excursion was easy, and some were quite frustrating, but all of them showed me aspects of this little marble of ours about which I had no prior knowledge. I am richer in spirit for that, and will forever be indebted to you.

I can only endorse Jim's comment.
Although I've been a bit quieter lately, we had lots of fun with Geodashing.
The fact that you've run it single handed for over 20 years is a wonderful and unique contribution, thank you Scout.

Cheers,
Geoff

I’ll pile on with the thanks!   I had grand plans to make a celebratory trip to Dash Point as part of my final drive-by dash this summer, but they never materialized.   I did at least enjoy a lovely date with my wife across Puget Sound from Dash Point.

Thanks for 20 years of interesting random travel, Scout!  May you and the llamas enjoy some time off!

Dear Scout,
Many thanks for running Geodashing, and all the other GPS games on the site, for so many years.

As others have said, I will be sad that no new dashpoints will be created, but I've had a great time visiting various random points over the years and I'll always have the memories of the trips to try and find a dashpoint somewhere, usually in a field. :-)

I've just started another system of visiting places after borrowing a copy of "North Derbyshire Pubs Past and Present" by Jim McIntosh from my local library.  I'll be setting GPS waypoints at any that are still standing, albeit many are being converted into houses and flats at a rapid rate.

Good luck to everyone who played along over the years, some have, sadly, passed but the visit reports were a window into places I'd never been to and maybe never will.

Thanks, GeoffJ3191, for the kind words. I've always liked the dashpoint reports from Victoria. I have a soft spot in my memory for that part of the world. I'll miss reading about your travels there.
