GDFK-AGUP is in a wooded area off Orchard Road in Fircrest, Washington, 7 miles southwest of Dash Point.

As mentioned in a post to the list earlier this evening, I had grand plans to celebrate the final game of Geodashing. While no dashpoint ever landed in Dash Point, the closest reachable point for the final game was just southwest of this aptly named town and I had envisioned dining at a restaurant in the Dash Point Village shopping center, as well as visiting other Dash Point sights. But being the procrastinator I am, I kept putting off the visit until it was too late.

Or was it?

Shortly after dashing off a message to the list stating I wasn't going to dash, I had a realization. It was just under an hour to sunset. There was time to drive to Dash Point by sunset. A sunset visit to Dash Point on the day marking the sunset of the Geodashing game? Plus, given my western US time zone, I might actually score the very last dashpoint in the game. I couldn't resist, and got in my car, hoping to catch a sunset picture from Dash Point itself.

I drove south on the I-5 and exited to drive on Washington State Highway 509, also named "Dash Point Road" in this segment. Traffic conspired against me and I didn't quite make the actual sunset, but I did note that precisely at the advertised time of sunset (6:49 PM PDT), I passed a sign informing me I was entering Dash Point, which felt quite appropriate -- I had targeted sunset on my very first dashpoint on 11/11/2001 and got within tolerance right at sunset but missed "the point" by a few minutes. Why not end my Geodashing career the same way?

I enjoyed my drive through Dash Point along Dash Point Road, stopping on a hill just as the road turned south to take a lovely panoramic Dash Point Sunset picture -- I'll be uploading a compressed version of the picture with the report but I think the original may be my desktop background for a while. :)

I continued my drive to the actual dashpoint, in the community of Fircrest on the grounds of the Fircrest Public Works Facility. Google Street Maps had indicated I could approach within tolerance via their parking lot but the fence was closed, so I grabbed a photo from about 150m away, then hopped in my car to drive within tolerance along Orchard road. Not satisfied with a drive-by, I pulled off at the next turn (Holly Dr.) and walked back along the sidewalk to a 22 meter CPA.

That's 3 final points for Aquadyne, for En Dash!, and for the Geodashing game.

Getting there, both on this dashpoint, and the hundreds before, was all the fun.
