I’ve recently rekindled my interest in GPSgames, due to the Corona pandemic leading me to prefer places untouched (or at least not currently populated) by humans, and having had the chance to find another GeoVexilla flag I thought I’d try this dashpoint next (I haven’t had much luck with the GE caches so far). Unfortunately, there was a severe flooding in the Ahr valley this July, so I had to postpone the visit until I was reasonably certain roads between me and the dashpoint would be available again.

Today was the day. I packed the fearless eyeinthesky and the reluctant-to-even-move-let-alone-outside stupiddog1979, and so we visited the village of Nohn. The dashpoint was rather easy to locate, on an agricultural-only road just behind a petrol station (which unfortunately was closed, so we could fill up on gasoline but not on fluids and ice cream). The area was open and seems to be in use by the surrounding houses — some kids were playing on the grass, they had a bike bridge and some other things and two reclining chairs put up as well as a sign asking people to please not urinate into the (currant, I believe) bush. A bit further, there were cows grazing, but the actual dashpoint was just before.

We then proceeded to GC9BANH for Groundspeak geocaching. Very nice, I took some photos, even a panoramic one, which I’ll attach there. Thanks for the excuse to do this very nice trip in best “indian summer” weather!

It’s a very sad things that GPSgames are going to retire soon, especially with my rekindled interest. I guess the links to all the caches, vexillas, shutterspots, dashpoints, etc. I found or placed will then also cease to work? :/

The links will continue to work indefinitely. Even though new waypoints to hunt will no longer be created, the old ones are still in the database. The website itself will continue to drift along indefinitely. The fact that I just migrated it to a new server should mean it's in better shape than it has been in years.

P.S. There are still five days before the door closes on reporting finds on Game 240, the last of Geodashing.
