workspace chooser fun...

Hi Chris,

Hope you are having a good time at the summit. Dan apparently is attending it as well. Anyways, we were trying to modify the chooser dialog to allow the user to set the unit preferences.

 Is there a way to retrieve preferences from the workspace location that is currently highlighted in the workspace location drop down? And if the workspace location hasn't been created yet, it would be nice to just show the defaults. Is there an easy way to accomplish this? I think we cannot use the preferences directly because the instance area hasn't been set when the chooser dialog comes up, correct ?
