The 3D view of 2D datasets is very nice, but it could be improved by the
following:

- the "Enable smoothing interpolation" defaults to on for 3D data but is
off for 2D. It should be on.

- there should be an option to set the trace min and max display values to
the max absolute value for each 2D line. If line 1 min value is -21345 and
max is 34130, this option would set min to -34130 and max to 34130.
Similarly for each line.

- users should be allowed to set a single min and max limit value to apply
to all lines in the display.
