The algorithms that currently use an SOM have to be run in three steps:
* extract geoscience data and transform
* run standalone SOM application
* apply resulting SOM to geoscience data

This workflow is only tolerable for motivated researchers. For others, we
need to port the SOM into GeoCraft. The SOM can be open sourced even if
many of the algorithms that use it are not.
