Example: Pennsylvania Ave. NW & West Executive Ave.NW in Washington
D.C.
I've had some success at geocoding intersections. It seems to do much
better if you use the complete street name with all modifiers (e.g. E
Stadium Blvd). I wasn't able to get your Washington DC example to
work, but other streets I know work pretty well. Unfortunately, it
seems nearly impossible to know if it's accurate without verifying
against something like Google Maps. The geocoder provides a precision,
or score, for the geocode but it's always very low when matching
intersections.
These were accurate:
"Grand River Ave And Okemos Rd, Okemos, MI"
42.72209, -84.427489
"S Main St And E Stadium Blvd, Ann Arbor, MI"
42.264208, -83.750209
This was not accurate:
"Pennsylvania Ave NW And W Executive Ave NW, Washington, DC"
38.897345, -77.033645
