Great to see GeoCAT being used in more Red List workshops around the world. Last week in Puerto Rico the UK Overseas Territories group at RBG Kew were using GeoCAT to assess some important endemic plants in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands:

Let us know if you are using GeoCAT for your own Red List work.

Great tool: we are using it at our IUCN Mediterranean monocot plant assessment review workshops together with a projector, and it really encourages expert engagement and facilitates the compilation of distribution data.

Its a mandatory part of the Red List orientation workshops I hold. We have a practical session with demo and practice by participants with their own data. In all the global assessments I facilitate in India, I insist on preparing and reviewing the GeoCAT .csv file as the very first step, as it saves much time in mapping and calculations later. At the same time, we also explain how the tool is to be used in combination with other assessment criteria and guidelines for final Red List assessment.
