I thought it would be hard to add MrSid support. Turns out it's really
easy.
Because of licensing issues you have to do it yourself (it cannot be
shipped in binary format)
1) Become a MrSid developer (visit LizardTech site)
2) Download the MG2/3 SDK for Linux
3) Build a MrSid plugin for GDAL and install it.
You are done. Start up the data browser with no name and you will see
it now supports MrSid.
I would hazard a guess that this would work on Windows or Mac too.
