Another Question: Search all verticals EXCEPT

Is there a way to do a negative search? I want to do a query of all
businesses nearby this lat/long, but exclude certain verticals.
The user scenario is this: I'm trying to show nearby consumer-y
businesses while excluding office-type businesses. So it's ok to
show restaurants, convenience shops, gas stations and drug stores, but
don't show architects, accountants, corporate offices, etc.
Any thoughts?
