Can someone remove me from this list? There's no option to remove
myself.

Before this list becomes a deluge of "me too" posts, remember this is
a google group. You can modify your subscription options here:

http://groups.google.com/group/geoapi

Looks like nobody from GeoAPI is following this mailing list anymore :-(

Hi Jeff,
We are following the email list.

Sorry for all the SPAM problems - we are trying to figure out if there is another Groups style solution we should move to instead that will allow for open discourse, or whether we should just start moderating out the SPAM.

So, I apologize for the delayed reply and the SPAM issue :(

This email address isn't associated with my Google Account and I've removed myself from the group, but I'm still getting emails. So it's a bit annoying.

I recently moved one of my other projects to Google groups and had the
same problem. I had to enable full moderation to stop it! Seems to be
the only way. You, would of course, think that Google would use their
GMail style spam filtering, but no

I haven't found full moderation to be necessary. There is a "moderate
new members" option which has prevented 100% of the spam on the groups
I run. You (the admins) get a notice for a new user's first post,
click "Always Approve" at the moderation screen, then the user can
post freely.

Just make sure to go through and ban any of the users that have
already spammed the list.

Elad - glad you guys are still listening, I was worried I was going to
have to twitter my questions 140 chars at a time :-)

Good point - I will clean out SPAMMERs today and add the moderation option you mention.

Apologies to all on this issue.

Jeff - yes, we can now only email 140 characters at a time :)  This means I have violated company policy and now am on the run from the Twitter police :)

I just removed you.  I have also added moderation to the group - so this should stop the SPAM issue.
It does mean your email may take up to a day to get posted - so thanks in advance for the patience :)
