Hi all,

I wonder if it would be possible that the publishers of the vector tiles services could check that the styles are properly working in QGIS and report an issue if not.
In this manner, we would know a bit before it gets released and could tackle the bug in time.
We would avoid such nasty rendering: https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/65152

Not sure it's possible, but it's a worth a try: having the vector tiles in QGIS is really great!

Hi Denis

Thanks for reching out to us.
While it might not be possible, to ping you everytime before a new release, we thought, that probably the following things might help a bit?
- In the style.json, e.g. here: https://vectortiles.geo.admin.ch/styles/ch.swisstopo.lightbasemap.vt/style.json, there's a "metadata" section, which contains the attribute "ga:version", e.g. as in here:  "ga:version": "v1.25.0".
- In case we release a new version, which initially causes issues, you could simply grep the version of the new release and consider using a slightly (2-3 minors) older version, which probably does not cause any issues, since they have long been fixed, e.g. v1.23.0 as in here:  https://vectortiles.geo.admin.ch/styles/ch.swisstopo.lightbasemap.vt/v1.23.0/style.json
- If that is a valid work-around for your case, we could also update our docs (https://docs.geo.admin.ch/visualize-data/vector-tiles.html) accordingly and describe the above steps there, too.

Hope that helps.
Have a nice weekend and best regards
Jürgen
