Hi all,

It seems that GetFeatureInfo is not implemented on WMTS layers. Is this correct?

For instance, I would like to use the GetFeatureInfo operation to WMTS layers like 'Solar energy: suitability of roofs'. In the end, we'd like to expose the information already available via htmlPopup service in QGIS (for the Swiss Locator plugin), which would be already possible if those WMTS layers had support for the standard GetFeatureInfo operation.

Many thanks!

Based on the WMTS GetCapabilities response (<ows:OperationsMetadata>), this does not appear to be supported which is also reflected in the API documentation:

" Only the RESTFul request encoding to GetTile is implemented, not the GetLegend and GetFeatureInfo. No KVP and SOAP request encoding is supported."

Hi

Thanks for your question.

In order to get the attributes from a vector layer via GetFeatureInfo we recommend to use the WMS service [1] of geo.admin.ch, which is enabled for that kind of use case, instead of WMTS.

WMTS has mainly the purpose of high performant map representation of large datasets such as the background maps or the aerial imagery, in order to help mapping applications such as map.geo.admin.ch being well performant.
