Hello,

I have asked about this already on a Swisstopo forum. I can't remember which. Maybe geodamin-api is not the right place. The Dufour and Siegrfried map WMS services seem to have been removed. The maps are indirectly available in "A journey through time" but I don't think there is any way to set a timestamp to access the points in time corresponding to Dufour and Siegried.

Is it the case that Dufour and Siegfried WMS have been suppressed? If so, this seems contrary to the federal policy since now one has to pay hundreds of Francs to order and purchase electronic versions of map sheets.

Hello Peter,

No, both map are available through the wms.geo.admin.ch service as ch.swisstopo.hiks-siegfried and ch.swisstopo.hiks-dufour, but only the first edition (first date of completion, nothing has changed with this respect). These maps are also available as WMTS (wmts.geo.admin.ch). Under the name of ch.swisstopo.zeitreihen you'll get the current state of the map for every year and scale (the so-called fruit-cake map).

Regards,

Marc

Marc,

thank you for getting back to me. Glad to hear that Dufour and Siegfried are still in principle freely available.

I checked the WMS again. Everything works fine except Dufour and Siegfried.

One gets a vnd.ogc.se_xml response with a few bits but no image. So there is a connection of some sort to the server, but an incorrect response.

Please have a look at network traffic for:

Thank you for pointing out WTMS. Strangely, "Journey through Time" jumps from Dufour to the modern map version  after about 1965. But there is no Siegfried version that one would expect to see after about 1898.

I have not checked the WTMS zeitreihen max zoom level. But WTMS dufour and siegfried seem to have a max-zoom level of 15 for all window sizes (using Leaflet). For what we do this is a bit low (we routinely zoom to 19).

So it would be nice to have WMS dufour and siegfried.

Best, Peter
