Hello everyone-
We are updating our administration for GeoBlacklight meetings starting this week. These changes have been reviewed by our GBL Governance Workgroup; we want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to find and access meetings, while maintaining better security and privacy for the community.
Past practices that are being deprecated:
Meeting invitations with Zoom links will no longer come from my personal calendar.
Members of the Google Group will no longer be added individually to the invite list.
New practices:
Open meetings are scheduled on a calendar from this gmail account: geo...@gmail.com
Attendees will need to either subscribe to the calendar or find the meeting info on https://geoblacklight.org/community/#events
The Zoom link will always be https://z.umn.edu/gbl-zoom
Things that are staying the same:
Agendas will still be at https://z.umn.edu/gbl-meetings
The date and time remains the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 1:05-1:55 Central Time
I will still send monthly reminders via the Google Group and Slack.
You may get a notification shortly that the existing GeoBlacklight meetings hosted by me are canceled.
If you use Outlook, you may need to manually delete these canceled meetings going forward.
Option 1: Add the series to your own calendar
If you are on Google Calendar, you can subscribe:
Go to your calendar, in the left hand bar, click on the plus sign for “other calendars”
Select “subscribe to new calendar”
Enter geo...@gmail.com
If you use Outlook, here is the iCal format: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/geo4lib%40gmail.com/public/basic.ics
Option 2: Attend the meetings without adding all of them to your calendar:
Access the public embedded view of the calendar: https://geoblacklight.org/community (scroll down to events)
Watch for Slack and Google Group emails notifying the community of upcoming meetings and events.
If you encounter problems or have any questions, please let me know!
Best,
Karen
