Genymotion Emulator not starting (hanging in black screen "Starting virtual device...")

My Configuration:

Windows 7 64 Bit / Genymotion 1.1.0 / Virtual Box 4.2.16

I created a new virtual device "Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2" in Genymotion. The start seems to be fine at the beginning: I get a new, black window for the emulator and a dialog, stating "Starting virtual device...". But startup flow won't procceed this step (waited half an hour...). When I switch to VirtualBox, I see that the machine is currently executed. In the preview, I see the homescreen of the android system, which indicates, that the device was started successfully.

What I tried:

- Reinstalled Genymotion + Virtual Box

- Deactivated VT-x/AMD-V hardware virtualization

-Started the device from VirtualBox Manager and Genymotion afterwards (same result)

- Tried different virtual devices

It's a bit strange, as Genymotion was working fine on my systems for some hours after I installed it the first time...

i have a similar set-up, i got virtual "Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2"

but seems to me that an old androVm 4.1.1 image works 'better' i mean.. it warnings that's for 1.0 but for me it's more stable...

this is it:

Resolution:480x854x240
VM:androVM_vbox86p_4.1.1_r6.1-20130222-gapps-houdini-flash

The resolution used is the same for the 2 versions ?

You are using the androVM version with Genymotion 1.1.0 too ? or the old player ?

I'm using both that 'old' androVm 4.1.1 image and the new "Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2" image with the new Genymotion 1.1.0 player,

the old with
480x800x240dpi res

the new  with
720x1280x320dpi res

both works for me, the old seems more stable even if the player give me a warning on start-up on the old image

maybe doesn't matter, i'm connecting throug a squid proxy (without authentication)

Could you try the same small resolution with the Genymotion one ?

The problem might be the resolution that needs more resources. Could you check the memory consumption when the problem happen ?

Genymotion crashed while I was trying to play deadcity the same thing happened to me. Here is how I fixed that.

1: open virtual box

2: right click on the device/devices

3: click on close in the menu

4: click power off and confirm *you will lose any unsaved data due to this but your device will start working until the next crash*

This error occurs because your device crashes and is still running you just have to stop it from virtual box as stated above.

It looks like it's a networking error, as i can't connect the device with adb, using "adb connect" :-/

I had a VPN connecting running, and while running that, I couldnt launch Genymotion.. It kept saying "Starting virtual box..." and black screen. But when I turned off VPN it worked just fine.

Hi Harjit,

The Genymotion Support team has already answered.

There is a connection between the Genymotion software and the virtual
device: when the VPN is up, this connection is routed into the VPN tunnel.

When your VPN is up, your network parameters are modified: all network
traffic is sent in the VPN tunnel.

You have to modify your network parameters from your VPN client to avoid
all network traffic use the VPN tunnel.

i have the same problem.

I am using juniper networoks to connect to the vpn,

I am not able to made changes in the connect profile of the vpn.

Can i solve this issue changing the host only adapter ip on the vb settings?

when i run from virtual box it works but the problem is that the video renderer is ultra slowest and windows size does not fit in the display

You can also try to set "route ADD 192.168.56.100 MASK 255.255.255.255 192.168.56.100" in a cmd shell.
