Looking to install TWRP recovery in genymotion with android 6.0.  Would like to do this because I have a oneplus one twrp backup with a bunch of my photos that I want to access.  I have not had any success rebooting my genymotion neux 5x into fastboot mode with command prompt, using the adb reboot fastboot just causes virtual machine to reload and then freeze.  Anyone have any ideas?

HI,

Genymotion does not contain any recovery so you won't be able to use it for this.

You might better try to use the backup files directly. Depending on how they are created by TWRP, you might try to open them using 7zip.
Sometime they are just plain zip file with an other extension, sometime they are ext4 partition file that can be opened with 7zip too.

Julien.

What are you talking about Julien?
He's talking probably about restoring a custom ROM onto the emulator.

It's not possible w/ Genymotion regretfully; this company is so stupid for not including any form of recovery it makes the product complete trash.

The people who are developing Genymotion may not actually understand Android, honestly

I'm talking about the fact that he wanted to restore his personal data from an other phone into Genymotion. But using the whole ROM wil not be possible
since Genymotion is already a custom ROM by itself. You will erase the system making the thing unusable.

That's why so many users use it currently. They like trashes.

The recovery might be useful in some situation but not in the case of an emulator. Ask you self why they are none in any of them.
btw you can already factory reset / clone etc. the device using Genymotion features.

The hardware doesn't matter so much, just the code-base.
A recovery would be useful because Genymotion claims to emulate a whole phone at a HW-level.

This can't be verified as there is no recovery; and to save-states on a phone that has recovery would be fantastic for OS development but it's not possible with Genymotion it is just a glorified VM.
You don't understand these things it seems, so really your opinion is not so important.

But here's a reality-check: The important thing is the code-base not the HW used

Even the people at Genymotion know it's a flaw.

The only people who don't care about this are people like you; glorified end-users.

For people doing actual work, Genymotion is useless

The sad thing is this dude is correct; if Genymotion really did emulate a phone at 1:1 he would be able to do that if it could use TWRP.

Aiden, please let us know when you'll build your own emulator with a recovery. We will be your happy users ;-)

That's not my desire and also I'm not wrong; all I see in your response is how ignorant you are
