Hello,

Does Genymotion support video playback?  I can't get applications like Plex, Netflix, and HBO Go to work.  They are navigable, but fail upon video playback.  I even enabled 3D hardware acceleration in Virtual Box (I'm using the Nexus 7, 4.3 and 4.2.2 virtual devices).  Has anybody gotten this to work with a device?

Thanks.

I've gotten video playback working on my Nexus 7 4.3 image. I had to disable HD on Youtube to get the videos to play, but they played. No success with Netflix and similar, may have more to do with issues with the ARM libraries though(Reliable is not what I'd call ARM translation on Genymotion right now). MX Player worked, though not well with HD videos. I draw this problem with HD videos down to work needing to be done on hardware acceleration with Virtualbox. If you really need to run video apps then I'd have to point you towards Bluestacks for now. I can't remember if Bluestacks comes with the Play Store or not(been awhile since I've reinstalled it) but there will no doubt be guides on how to root and get Play Store if you need it. They've got graphics and video pretty nailed in there.

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm running Ubuntu so I think Bluestacks is out.  I was hoping to use an android emulator to run XBMC and have the media apps next to it.  I need linux for my mythtv backend, but as far as utilizing netflix, hbo-go, amazon, hulu, etc. Ubuntu has little ability.  I assumed this would be a long shot but thought I would give it try.

Yeah you're stuck with Genymotion on Ubuntu. There's a workaround for Netflix in Ubuntu(although not in XBMC), and Amazon and Hulu will work as long as you have Flash installed(the old Linux version still works fine). HBOGo should also work with Flash as well. Though if you use Chromium as your browser Flash will stop being supported very soon in it. So you'll either have to use Google Chrome, or Firefox with the old Flash plugin.
