Not just myself, but practically everyone I know in my community has found auto-update to be entirely busted. Anytime a mod updates we have to manually unsubscribe and re-subscribe to it before the latest version will download.
Yeah, Steam can b way too helpful sometimes. I also found that with some really large mods (and updates) that Steam either had a hissy fit or was sulking and messed up so it would restart, get confused and restart again and then try updating another game. A mess. With large mods I usually delete the local pak file(s) anyway and then resubscribe. That always works.
Using the Steam client I have been unable to install or run games from another partition on my drive. Previously, the partition with the games would mount into the /media/willc folder (and steam could read/write here, I installed and ran Left 4 Dead 2) but I would have to mount it by opening it in the file system or via the terminal before hand; I wanted to automate this process.
So, after looking around at fstab options I noticed that the option "user" (any user can mount) also implies the option "noexec" (binaries are not executable), so I added the "exec" option after user to override this. However, I still get this error. I also tried to run chmod -R 777 SteamLibrary just in case permissions were the problem but it persists even after that.
Found the answer to my own question with a little more digging. Doing what I did in the question gave me permission to read/write all the files/directories, but I did not have permissions set for the partition itself. To illustrate, ls -l $HOME showed me that the partition was owned by root and had no read/write permissions for "other". To correct it I issued this:
SteamLibrary here is the mount point for the drive, -R recursively applies this to folders and files, -v outputs additional information. In this case I set the owner and groups to my username since I will be the only one accessing it, but changing the second username to "users" should allow any user on the computer to access it. Running the same ls command as before I now get the line
I built a new PC today and moved my LaunchBox drive into it. I installed Steam and downloaded a few normal and VR games. I ran LaunchBox to test out some NES and other games to make sure all emulators ran fine, and after LaunchBox updated, it auto imported my Steam games. I absolutely do not want this as I keep my LaunchBox strictly for retro and want it portable as well. It also removed all my other "Windows" games that I had setup like various older PC games like No One Lives Forever 1 and 2 and others. How do I turn this off completely?
Use the top most check box, there is a bug (that is corrected in current beta) where if that top check box was checked and the storefront was set to "None" installed games would sometimes be auto-imported.
A customer from Columbus Ohio called for an interior detail of their 2005 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan. The exterior was in pretty good shape but the inside, not so much. The carpets, which are (were) a light gray color, had years of dirt and grime mashed into the carpeting. It was time to pull out the handy dandy vapor steamer.
As you can see, the amount of steam that is created is overwhelming at times, but this step is key. The brush on the end of the hand tool, along with the vapor steam, breaks down the dirt and lifts it to the surface.
Here is another view of the heated carpet extractor upholstery tool. Simply squeeze the trigger so the jet sprays the cleaning solution. Go back and fort a couple of times, and the carpets will look amazing, or, at least a lot better! Obviously, some carpets turn out better than others.
Auto Steam Bake Mode uses heating with steam first, then uses convection heat to finish baking. With this mode, baked goods acquire a tender interior and an exterior with natural shine, without the need for an egg wash.

Steam does not auto-download preordered games. It doesn't auto download any games. It only downloads what you manually select for install, and since you can't install preordered games yet, you are out of luck. Except if it does offer preloading as mentioned by Orc JMR in the comments.

Problem Description: Hi all,
I have been trying for some time to get two of my instances to do auto updates(I only have two), a Icarus and Satisfactory server. I have followed some steps after I reached out to CubeCoders on youtube and the instructions I received dont appear to work. Here are the instructions and what my settings are. Have I done something wrong?
i have a trigger set to scan for a new version via steamCMD every minute then another trigger that simply schedules an update and restart once the last player leave or if empty if an update is available.
I also did the same as you, manually running the Check for available updates via SteamCMD with the trigger setup as per the screen shot and it does nothing. But manually pressing the Schedule an update and restart once the last user leaves, or immediately if empty updates as expected.
after hitting the play button from the steam client, automatically SKIF is launched for a moment, the special k global injection service starts, and then the global injection service and SKIF stops/closes after Special K is injected into the game.
either the launch button from skif after selecting a game in skif or launching a steam game from the steam client with SKIF %COMMAND% in the launch options (as shown in my screenshot earlier) should be enough as aemony said also basically.
Edit: I missed part of the manifest change steps, but updated them below in bold. I have successfully tested this process for the brand new Update 2 that just released. I am still running Patch 0 Hotfix 4 with 8/17 version of binaries and mods, and my game now launches even when Steam is logged out and not running at all.
After Patch 0's Hotfix 4 broke my previous playthough, I adjusted my mod loadout and started a new game. I didn't want to have to worry about that happening again, but BG3 has only just come out, and we can likely expect an ongoing number of updates from Larian over the next month or two as post-launch bugs are patched, and live service support kicks into full gear.
I tried to armor my own installation against this onslaught by making a backup of the install directory right after P0 HF4 (8/17), but even with a preserved baseline to return my game files to, Steam does not currently have a supported set of options to disable game updates. The best they offer is an option to prevent Steam from installing updates until the next time you launch the game - which doesn't solve the issue, it just delays it slightly.
I came across a solution that actually works to disable auto-updates in Steam on a per-game basis. It is surprisingly straightforward, but it makes sense in hindsight. I have successfully tested this method after Patch 1 broke some of my mods.
