Hello Jon,
I am wondering if you can help a friend of mine. His name is Tim Maatman and we are both members of Badger Trails, Inc. Badger Trails is a non-profit organization that sponsors three hikes in Wisconsin each year. It is kind of like the Lake Pepin 3 Speed Tour,
but involves hikers instead of bikers.
Tim and his wife Phyllis own two portable Bickerton 3 speed bikes. For many years they brought them along on their sailboat when they sailed the Great Lakes. When they got to port, the bikes were their transportation on land. The bikes fold up, are aluminum,
and only weigh 18 pounds each. Once folded up they fit into lightweight bags. They are 1971 bikes and Tim and Phyllis have owned them since 1984. They no longer own their boat and Tim recently purchased an e-bike, so they are looking for a new home for the
Bickerton bikes.
I have attached pictures of me and Tim with one of the bikes. From talking to Tim, he would welcome a reasonable offer as long as they go to someone who would offer them a good home, hopefully someone who appreciates English 3 speed bikes.
Do you think that with your connections to the nutters of the Lake Pepin 3 Speed Tour you might be able to assist Tim find a good home for these seafaring steeds? Although Tim and Phyllis live in Wisconsin, they have family in Blaine, MN and get up there approximately
every six weeks and could bring them to MN if someone expresses interest.
I am looking forward to seeing you again soon at this year's event. I appreciate any help or advice you might have for Tim about the bikes. I have copied Tim on this e-mail, so please reply to both of us.
Thank-you,
Grant
