Folks:
I have a 1950 Raleigh Clubman available for sale. I picked it up in the summer of 2005 in Providence, RI, and have only ridden it once. It is not completely original - brakes are Weinmann, and not GB Hiduminium. It does have the original Dunlop stainless rims, but no seatpost and saddle (it did not come with these originally). The pump mounts are intact.
I took it to Sheldon Brown that summer to confirm it was a Clubman. He affirmed, and thought the red color was original. I'm not so sure, after conversations with Peter Kohler, with the standard color being Electric Blue for 1950, and I believe 1951 years. It has no identifying "Clubman" decals, but does have the Raleigh headbadge and Reynolds 531 tubing decal on the seatpost. It also contains a decal from a now-defunct bicycle shop in Taunton, Massachusetts. My guess is that it may have been repainted in the late 1960s-early 1970s, with available decals added during that time. Someone in the past, hand-painted white pin striping around the lugs.
I added Bluemels white mudguards, and only took it on one ride as Sheldon implored to use other rims as the Dunlops are rare and not manufactured anymore. The bicycle rode nicely; however, the 22" frame size is too small for me.
Make a fair offer - I have a price in mind, but would like to see it go to someone who can get some use out of it, perhaps at a future ABCE.
Cheers,
Karl Dietzler
