My 1950 Humber has the shift cable pulley wheel clamp even though it has the braze on for the mount, this started bothering recently but I have gotten over it.

My question is were shifter pulley wheels installed at the factory or the dealer?

My guess is that it was done at the factory and clamps are what was within reach at the moment.

Thanks,

Stephen

That is a good thing to “get over” not having, there doesn’t appear to be many copies of that part left at this juncture. I seem to recall reading the timeline for the brazed pulley mount was after the war, until the early 1950s. Doubtful the factory would have sat on a bike or two that they didn’t have the brazed pulley mount for, if they had a bin of the clamp on pulleys. Functionally, the same.

The 1949 Dawn Tourist I used to have had a clamp on pulley. The brazed on version wasn’t used across the board in that era.

My 1950 Lenton has both and was highly original in many ways.  I think it is common.Lenton.JPG
