Don’t know if initial attempt to send was sent or not.  My Moulton has two chainrings, 3 speed SA, and 2 external gears on the hub.  Shifters for the crankset and external gears, and the trigger shifter.  Works fine.

Dave, That is a beautiful squash ball bike. The drums give reliable stopping power and get rid of long reach spongy problems. I like the use of an SA chain stay cable stop. Are those Simplex bar ends? I have patinated example of the “Huffy” version of the Mk I with alloy rims and S5 into the FW hub.

I want to know the shift pattern to get through all those gears in order.

Lovely bike! You’ve got me wondering if the gent who bought Jane’s MkIII is bored with it yet.

BTW my favorite version of 2 cogs on an SA 3 spline driver is one dished 1/8” SA cog, a 1mm spacer and a modified cassette cog, shifted with a Huret Svelto. I like a 19/22 cog pair as it perfectly half steps an AW. But in the examples shown, I was extending the range of an FM.

2 advantages to using the Svelto are that travel is easily limited to 2 cogs and they look older than they are. Don’t look out of place on bikes from the ’50s, maybe even ‘40s.

Ah, Huret! Masters of a Rube Goldberg sort of minimalism.

The Mk 3's have a slightly different frame geometry to earlier Moultons which makes it easier, and a lot neater, to fit a front mech to the seat tube.

And Huret have always been a bit 'off the wall' with their mechs, but they're also very good and built like a tank! I've had an Alvit 1900 on my Safari since 1966 or so, and it's never failed. But I havea  couple of spares in stock, just in case. 🙂

Regards
Kit

Hi Robert

Yes, the drum brakes work great.  The bar end shifters are Suntour friction ones.  I am very pleased with them.  I have no set shifting sequence.  Trial and error and experience are the guidelines.  The rims are aluminum and the tires are high pressure slicks.

Cheers, Dave Brierley
