Greetings,
Short version: I am looking for a lock nut and adjustable race for a 26 threads per inch, 1-inch diameter Raleigh sports fork.
Long version: I brought a 1960 Dunelt to last fall’s ABCE, for possible placement in a new manger. Jeffrey Bock took a look at it and said “Nice bike. The fork is bent.”
Today I tried to rectify that situation. I brought the fork in to Chris Kvale’s shop, and Chris took a look at it. Unfortunately, in addition to a bent fork, the steerer tube is also bent, and Chris indicated that it would be major surgery to remove & replace the steerer tube; and the heat from that job would trash the paint on that part of the assembly.
He recommends plan B, install a different fork.
I have one—a Raleigh Sports fork that is pretty much an exact match, except the threading is Raleigh standard 26 threads per inch, instead of Dunelt standard of 24 tpi. (Picked up the replacement fork from the Free Raleigh Forks Guy at last year’s ABCE, for which I’m grateful).
So that’s the long version. Gonna put that blue Raleigh fork on if I can find the right hardware.
