Hopefully someone can help with information and pictures on Buckley Cycles.  I seen an article without bike pictures on Classic lightweights and can't even find that now.  Some pictures would be nice though as when I try to search Buckley all I get is bands, peoples pets and a basketball coach in the UK.  Thanks! Hi, Rob ---
Very surprising to hear you mention Buckley, for so few today are even aware of the once-famous marque.

Buckley Brothers were one of the old London "white glove" builders founded around the turn of the Century along with Macleans, Hawkes, et. al.  At one point they produced what was reputed to be the lightest cycle in the world at some 13 pounds, if I recall correctly. Their machines -- including tandems and trikes -- were uniformly excellent, and highly prized.

I have some photos in my archive of Buckleys which had previously been for sale on ebay. One of my great regrets in collecting is having missed a 24-inch Buckley frame in the exact style I was seeking. Very lovely headbadge and transfers on their machines, as well.

Let me dig around my archives and see what I can come up with. Whatever I find I'll try to upload for all to see.

Cheerio,

Hi, Rob ---

I did some fishing through my archives and have now uploaded pages from a 1930s Buckley Brothers catalogue, as well as images of one complete machine from the 1950s (green, refinished by Allin's of Croyden), and a 24-inch frame, which I'd narrowly missed out on at auction (black frame).

Also, attached, is a larger image of "The Lightest Racing Cycle Built," which I was correct in remembering as having weighed in at 13 lbs., as well as "A Few Facts" about Buckley which are quite interesting, especially the 22 different front fork rakes which they carried at the time and their own custom-made frame jigs.

May I ask if you have an opportunity to acquire a Buckley frame or machine, or are you simply interested in the marque?

Hope the information helps.

Kind regards,

Wrongway

Thanks Peter!  I was told that they were a quality bike and I might be able to aquire a frame that needs restoration we will see.

You're quite welcome, Rob.

If you have the opportunity to acquire a Buckley, don't hesitate --- go for it!

Do keep us posted.

All the best,
