Just wondering if any of y'all place your rear sturmey axle all the way up into the dropouts or just part way...when installing a new chain. why or why not?

I aim for about halfway. I have one bike set up with dual rear cogs. With the larger one it just catches the front of the drop outs with the smaller one it is almost all the way back.

If you set it all the way back with a new chain, you can't adjust to take slack out of the chain as it wears.

I have been adding a 1/2 link lately on new chains so I can get it in the middle. I am not comfortable with it too near the front and there no adjustment space if it’s all the way back
