Brooks NEW B72

I have heard a few people over the years lament that Brooks no longer makes the B72 model. I was shopping earlier on a Spanish bike supplier website and found new B72 Brooks saddles for sale. I have ordered from this site twice before and they were fast and shipping was very reasonable.

      They are more expensive than the B66 and B67, but they are available.

The version that is getting hard to find is the black “Champion” model B66. The last two NOS versions of that saddle that I have ponied up for brought a tear to my eye. My favorite version of Brooks.

Well, basically, yeah, but that's also basically what a B66 champion is, no?

I mean, technically: this is the saddle shape Brooks calls "champion" and it comes in two varieties, the narrow and the standard, and when we were young you could get either of those in a B17 or a B15 or a Wrights all at different price points.
Another Brooks saddle shape is the "Gents Model" i.e. B66, B68, B72.
So a B66 Champion is the B66 frame with a champion standard top.

So ... the B66 has a frame with three rails, whereas the Flyer has two? Is that the difference?
Unless the nose hardware is different too, I believe you could switch the frame of a flyer for a B66 frame, since the springs bolt to the cantle plate.

I can't really see the nose hardware there, but it's probably the usual, just no shackle clip.
So how is this different from a flyer?

The Flyer has single rails. The B66 has double rails. To me, sporting 210 lbs of luscious girth, the double rail seat feels more supportive, and less flimsy than the single rail Flyer. Note I didn’t say anyone else should feel that way-the B66 Champion is MY favorite. I’m guessing these bikes and accoutrements were designed when the averaged height and weight of the riders they were intended for was about 140lbs and 5’7” or so, my father’s exact height and weight. I figure I’m about 50% heavier than what the engineers figured would be aboard the bike. I prefer the double rail seats, thank you. The engineers probably prefer skinnier people on their bikes. 

The only B72 and B15 models I have ever used were well beyond their best use by date. I’d love to try a new one, but, I’m  flush in nice B66 Champions at the moment.
