Lawmakers need to put Hoosiers before money and make common sense adjustments to the law, including limiting the number of days fireworks can be used and allowing densely populated cities to clamp down.

The Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk extends the Schuylkill River Trail out over the river. The city of Orange kicks off the patriotic party for Independence Day a little early with the annual 3rd of July Celebration at Grijalva Park. Come out and join the community to celebrate with friends, family, fun, and fireworks. The fireworks show has become a tradition for the community and has celebrated the 3rd of July for over twenty years (established 1996).

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission(1), there were an estimated 7,000 fireworks related injuries treated in emergency departments across the US between June 20th and July 20th, 2014. Of these 7,000 injuries, about 19% were injuries to the eyes. The most common eye injuries were contusions, lacerations, and foreign bodies in the eyes.

Fireworks will fly from multiple locations throughout the park for maximum effect during a $125,000 fireworks display presented by R&R Aubo Body at the 41st Annual Kelly Services Night Under Fire, this Saturday, Aug. 11, at Summit Motorsports Park. Get in the holiday spirit early at the annual Bonner Blast event. Enjoy dinner from a local food truck. City Band will perform at 8:30 p.m. before fireworks take off at about 9:15 p.m. Make sure to bring your lawn chair or blanket.

The annual Parked event kicks off July 4th weekend celebrations in Shawnee. The festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. with different food trucks to choose from, a live band, vendors, activities for children, and sprinklers in the fields before ending the night with a full fireworks display around 9:30 p.m.

The cities of Fairway, Roeland Park and Westwood are once again joining together to host their annual fireworks show at Bishop Miege High School. The show starts at dark, roughly 9:45 p.m. Fireworks will be set off from the baseball field behind the school. The Bishop Miege parking lot will be closed once all parking spots are filled.

The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a community picnic where there will be hot dogs and burgers while supplies last. This free family-friendly event will also feature inflatables, face painting, a DJ and more. The fireworks take off around 9:45 p.m. Make sure to bring a blanket or chairs.

The annual Liberty Fest will feature food trucks, a beer garden, live music and more. The event starts at 6 p.m. with Lost Wax performing at 8 p.m. and fireworks lighting up the sky at 10 p.m. If you want to park at the sports complex, you have to purchase a parking pass in advance.

Start celebrating bright and early in Platte City with live entertainment, music, food trucks and family-friendly activities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. KC Wolf will make an appearance, and there will be a flag football tournament, too. Then later that night, find a spot at the Platte County School District campus for fireworks at 10 p.m.

Since early June, Hare has visited several fireworks stands in Arapahoe County twice a day. He stops by to make sure only legal products are for sale, no fireworks are sold to minors and all other fireworks rules are being followed.

"If they are selling illegal fireworks we have the ability to shut them down," Hare told CBS4's Kelly Werthmann. "We typically don't do that. We work with the business owners and just try to make things safe."

Legal or illegal, Hare knows people are excited to buy fireworks to celebrate the American holiday. He said authorities do not want to ruin the fun, but will patrol neighborhoods throughout the evening to make sure no one is using illegal fireworks or using them in an unsafe area.

Mankhey said this is the first year Bellino Fireworks has had a tent set up in Charles City under the ownership of Miller. The last day the tent will sell fireworks out of the parking will be Friday, when all items will be 50 percent off.

Pine Knoll Shores Police Chief Ryan Thompson said if you bring in fireworks from out of state, there's a chance they are illegal. He said he has seen issues in the past with people firing off illegal fireworks in North Carolina.

"They shoot fireworks all the time throughout the year, whether it's legal or not. We have a variety of issues every year of property damage or fires being caused inland or on the beach. Those are pretty common issues we face around this time," Thompson said.

"It's more than just a fireworks show," West Lafayette Golf and Country Club Owner, Tom Day said. "It's a family picnic, we have an all you can eat picnic buffet served from 5 to 8. We have bounce houses, obstacle courses for the kids, kids games are from 7-9, face painting. A DJ plays music all afternoon and all evening."

Fireworks will launch on July 4 at approx. 9 p.m. from the field next to the water-park located at the intersection of SH 130 and Pflugerville Parkway.
