Lawmakers need to put Hoosiers before money and make common sense adjustments to the law, including limiting the number of days fireworks can be used and allowing densely populated cities to clamp down.

Get in the holiday spirit early at the annual Bonner Blast event. Enjoy dinner from a local food truck. City Band will perform at 8:30 p.m. before fireworks take off at about 9:15 p.m. Make sure to bring your lawn chair or blanket.
The annual Parked event kicks off July 4th weekend celebrations in Shawnee. The festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. with different food trucks to choose from, a live band, vendors, activities for children, and sprinklers in the fields before ending the night with a full fireworks display around 9:30 p.m.
The cities of Fairway, Roeland Park and Westwood are once again joining together to host their annual fireworks show at Bishop Miege High School. The show starts at dark, roughly 9:45 p.m. Fireworks will be set off from the baseball field behind the school. The Bishop Miege parking lot will be closed once all parking spots are filled.

Since early June, Hare has visited several fireworks stands in Arapahoe County twice a day. He stops by to make sure only legal products are for sale, no fireworks are sold to minors and all other fireworks rules are being followed.
"If they are selling illegal fireworks we have the ability to shut them down," Hare told CBS4's Kelly Werthmann. "We typically don't do that. We work with the business owners and just try to make things safe."
Legal or illegal, Hare knows people are excited to buy fireworks to celebrate the American holiday. He said authorities do not want to ruin the fun, but will patrol neighborhoods throughout the evening to make sure no one is using illegal fireworks or using them in an unsafe area.

The skies did clear late in the evening and around 8:30pm we drove to the Riverwalk, found ample parking at the old Sidewheeler building, and walked along the Riverwalk until we found what we determined to be the perfect spot to watch the fireworks show. Pine Knoll Shores Police Chief Ryan Thompson said if you bring in fireworks from out of state, there's a chance they are illegal. He said he has seen issues in the past with people firing off illegal fireworks in North Carolina.
"They shoot fireworks all the time throughout the year, whether it's legal or not. We have a variety of issues every year of property damage or fires being caused inland or on the beach. Those are pretty common issues we face around this time," Thompson said.
"It's more than just a fireworks show," West Lafayette Golf and Country Club Owner, Tom Day said. "It's a family picnic, we have an all you can eat picnic buffet served from 5 to 8. We have bounce houses, obstacle courses for the kids, kids games are from 7-9, face painting. A DJ plays music all afternoon and all evening."
