Android Jelly Bean (Android 4.1, 4.2, 4.3) is the codename given to the tenth version of the Android mobile operating system developed by Google, spanning three major point releases (versions 4.1 through 4.3.1). Among the devices that run Android 4.1 to 4.3 are the Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 4, Nexus 10, Nexus 7 (2013), and Hyundai Play X.

To promote consistency between device classes, Android tablets now use an expanded version of the interface layout and home screen used by phones by default, with centered navigation keys and a status bar across the top. These changes took effect for small tablets (such as the Nexus 7) on 4.1, and for larger tablets on 4.2. Small tablets on Android are optimized primarily for use in a portrait (vertical) orientation, giving apps expanded versions of the layouts used by phones. When used in a "landscape" (horizontal) orientation, apps adjust themselves into the widescreen-oriented layouts seen on larger tablets. On large tablets, navigation buttons were previously placed in the bottom-left of a bar along the bottom of the screen, with the clock and notification area in the bottom-right.[22][23][24]

The version history of the Android mobile operating system began with the public release of its first beta on November 5, 2007. The first commercial version, Android 1.0, was released on September 23, 2008. The operating system is developed by Google on a yearly cycle since at least 2011.[1] New major releases are announced at Google I/O along with its first public beta to supported Google Pixel devices. The stable version is then released later in the year.

The development of Android started in 2003 by Android, Inc., which was purchased by Google in 2005.[2] There were at least two internal releases of the software inside Google and the Open Handset Alliance (OHA) before the beta version was released.[3][4] The beta was released on November 5, 2007,[5][6] while the software development kit (SDK) was released on November 12, 2007.[7] Several public beta versions of the SDK were released.[8] These releases were done through software emulation as physical devices did not exist to test the operating system. Both the operating system itself and the SDK were released along with their source code, as free software under the Apache License.[9]

The project manager, Ryan Gibson, conceived using a confectionery-themed naming scheme for public releases, starting with Android 1.5 Cupcake. Google announced in August 2019 they were ending the confectionery theming scheme to use numerical ordering for future versions.[13] The first release under the numerical order format was Android 10, which was released September 2019.

In 2017, Google announced that Google Play would begin to require apps to target a recent Android version.[14] Since then, a new major Android version has been released in the second half of each year, and apps must target it by August 31 of the following year for new apps, or November 1 for app updates.[15]

The main hardware platform for Android is the 64-bit ARM architecture (i.e. ARMv8-A; previously the 32-bit ARMv7 architecture was supported and first ARMv5), with x86[d] and MIPS[e] architectures also officially supported in later versions of Android. MIPS support has since been deprecated and support was removed in NDK r17.[311]

As far as I can see, I was supposed to get update for Jelly Bean. But still there is no update. I still have android version 4.0.3. That's quite strange, don't you think so? I've tried famous trick with Google Services Framework many-many times, nothing. I tried to switch between WiFi / 3G/ LTE, restart / clean data / force stop / visa versa & do all the things that were supposed to help force upgrade, still nothing. I tried some codes with symbols like *# to force update (don't remember the exact code), not working.

Turned out that that my Galaxy Nexus belonged to one of the Google workers and the most important thing is that this folks got their Galaxy Nexuses with some crazy Android version (for developers or something like that) - this is the main reason why my device didn't get the update. And there is no chance that it would ever get it, because technicaly speaking such thing as Android 4.0.3. doesn't exist (at least for the market).

So, the only chance to get the update is to (1) unlock the bootloader, (2) install Google's official 4.0.4 android version (factory image), (3) check for the system update and, finally, (4) get the 4.1. update, directly through the smartphone's system settings.

I like the multi-colored Jelly Belly jelly beans! But if you mean one colored ones, I like pink, and blue, red, white, and sometimes orange. And green and black are the prettiest. And I like purple.
Someone should come up with a rainbow jelly bean for my indecisive sake. ?

First there was the Jelly Bean Prayer*. Then I rewrote it to create the Anglicanized version**. Next Fr. Scott Gunn rewrote it into a High Church version***, falsely accusing me of low churchmanship which I consider both slanderous and libelous.

Android version 4.1 through 4.3, codenamed Jelly Bean, was released in July 2012. And Jelly Bean improved UI speed and responsiveness of Google's mobile OS. Untill now Andriod 4.1.2 is still has a large number of users. That is because many devices with android 4.1.2 are still working well, such as Sony Xperia Z, Samsung Galaxy Grand I9082, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy Core I8260 and so on. After using an Andriod 4.1.2 device quite a while, you would want to customize your own device or delete some bloatware or some other operations which need root permission. At that time, KingoRoot APK will help you to achieve them.

MORE TO SAY If KingoRoot.apk failed to root your Andriod 4.1.2 device, please try some more times. Because KingoRoot doesn't have 100% success rate on some models. Or you can refer to KingoRoot Android (PC Version), which has a much higher success rate due to technical reasons.
How to root any Android device and version with KingoRoot PC Version?

On dumping out the package, the incredibly precise and consistentbean shape is immediately apparent. They are longer than most, with a glorious dimple. There is practically no perceptible variation in size or shape, which is really impressive.

The grape bean has a distinct anise note to it,while the lemon and lime beans are some of the most true-to-life representationsof their real life counterparts that I have encountered. The shell of the pineapple initially brings to mind candied pineapple, though it progresses more toward fresh pineapple as you chew through it.Strawberry also has a bit too much of a refined sugar taste up front, but again finishes stronger. Finally, orange is pleasant, but unremarkable.

The size of these six Haribo beans puts themat a slight disadvantage in this category, and that is not helped by the chewing difficultyadded by the suspected age of this package. However, after working through the bland sugary shells, the flavors meld together exceptionally well!Individuality is retained, and there is brightness without overwhelming acidity.

I have a question.I have an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean smartphone.I installed an older version of Minecraft PE.I think it is 0.14.0 or something close to that.Anyways,I tried to install the latest version (0.15.2) and I got an error, saying ''The package could not be parsed''.I found out that you need Android 4.2 for the latest version. So,what is the latest version that supports Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Please, don't switch the topic of this thread.I am just asking what is the latest version that supports Android 4.1.2,since 0.15.2 only supports Android 4.2 and above.I am only having to install Minecraft from other sources other than Google Play because I am sure I am in an ''unfortunate'' country. As I stated above,if I search for Minecraft in Play Store, then it will show fake Minecraft games.I couldn't find an option to unhide paid apps.

For the first time, Android 4 is running on more mobile devices than any other version of Google's mobile operating system. It's taken more than a year, but hardware makers are finally abandoning Android 2.3, nicknamed Gingerbread. Still, the majority of people out there own a device running an outdated take on Android, and are missing the benefits of Google's latest, greatest mobile OS.

At first glance, Jelly Bean is nearly identical to Ice Cream Sandwich, the current version of Android that Google released late in 2011. Many of the new features in Jelly Bean are either under the hood or improvements to the overall aesthetics of the operating system.

Jelly Bean is a lot faster than older versions of Android because of something Google calls "Project Butter," a system of slick animations and speed improvements that make the OS a delight to use. Now Android can predict where you're going to swipe your finger next and animate the screen to reflect that.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and my current Android version is Jelly Bean 4.2.2. I kept on trying to update the version but it kept on saying that my phone has installed the newest update. How can I change my Android version to the Lollipop one?

You can't just automatically "change" your version to Lollipop or Kitkat. Either Samsung needs to send an update to your phone, or your carrier (eg. Verizon, Sprint) needs to send the update to your phone. Otherwise you're stuck with 4.2.2.

The Android figures for July
Source: Google. After months of waiting for Gingerbread, Android 2.3, to be toppled from its position of most widely used version of Android, the combined forces of Android 4.1 and 4.2 have taken the top spot in the charts. As both are code-named "Jelly Bean", and generally treated as the same thing with minor differences in their flavours, it is reasonable to award the top spot to their combined numbers in the Android charts.
