The piece titled a drop in the ocean is a ten-minute adventure where users enter a giant jellyfish that lit the room blue and green before being shrunk down to 5cm in height so they can experience the ocean like never before. The piece aims to shed light on the harmful impact of ocean microplastics and how they are affecting marine biology, from the unsung heroes, plankton, to the giants of the sea, the whale shark.
In the Denmark Strait, southward-flowing frigid water from the Nordic Seas meets warmer water from the Irminger Sea. The cold, dense water quickly sinks below the warmer water and flows over the huge drop in the ocean floor, creating a downward flow estimated over 123 million cubic feet per second. This handmade Sterling Silver pendant captures a drop of water and sand of one of my favorite places in the world. The brass bezel is made with jewelers brass and the resin is colored in white and light blues shades. The sand is a combination of sand I have collected in my travels.
Prayer in action is love, and love in action is service. Try to give unconditionally whatever a person needs in the moment. The point is to do something, however small, and show you care through your actions by giving your time ... Do not worry about why problems exist in the world - just respond to people's needs ... We feel what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but that ocean would be less without that drop.
We only seem to learn from Life that Life doesn't matter so much as it seemed to do - it's not so burningly important, after all, what happens. We crawl, like blinking sea-creatures, out of the Ocean onto a spur of rock, we creep over the promontory bewildered and dazzled and hurting ourselves, then we drop in the ocean on the other side: and the little transit doesn't matter so much.
Yes, twenty-seven million in slavery is a lot of people, but it is just .0043 percent of the world's population. Yes, $23 billion a year in slave-made products as services is a lot of money but it is exactly what Americans spent on Valentine's Day in 2005. If humans trafficking generates $32 billion in profits annually, that is still a tiny drop in the ocean of the world economy.
When he says a drop in the ocean, a change in the weather, he's talking about things that are completely irrelevant and unimportant. Things that don't matter in the whole scheme of things. Like him loving her is irrelevant, because she'll never love him back: "It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert." But to him, it doesn't matter because , she is his heaven, his everything.
I think when he says he was a boy who loved a woman like a little girl just means how he was in over his head, like the drop in the ocean thinking it was something more then just a drop. Or a slight change in the weather would change people's daily routines.
"A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather"represent the littlest things that he wishes would somehow change her mind about him. "I was praying that you and me might end up together", is what he is praying for the whole song. Ron Pope compares "wishing for rain and I stand in the desert" to wishing he could be with her. The desert is like his life without her, and she is water. He wants her and needs her so desperately in his life, the same way as somebody in the desert would need water. There is no water in the desert, as the girl is not in his life. "But I'm holding you closer than most" contradicts what he has said prior to this. I think this means that she is physically there, but they are not together. "cause you are my heaven" means that she is the best thing in his life, that she his heaven on earth.
"A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather" he is saying that he wants a change in life and he thinks it would be as natural as the weather changing "I was praying that you and me might end up together" he wants them to be together and he's praying for it "It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert" it's pointless it's almost impossible for it to happen "But I'm holding you closer than most 'Cause you are my heaven" he really just loves spending the time with her and he says that she is his heaven "I don't want to waste the weekend if you don't love me just pretend" he doesn't want to waste the little time he has with her and he knows she doesn't or love him that way but he wishes she acted that way "Then it's time to go" he says that she should go because she doesn't want or can't be with him "And as my train rolls down the east coast" he has to go to the east coast "I wonder how you keep warm"she has nobody to keep her warm "It's too late to cry to broken to move on" there's no use crying and everything in their relationship is broken and they can't move on normally (such as he might've said he loved her and she didn't feel the same way) you might not agree but I think this is hat it means 'cause i feel this way about a boy (he likes another girl)
In this song, he is talking about being in the "friend zone". I have always listened to this song ever since I heard it used in The Vampire Diaries. Im sure, most of us got this song from there too, since Ron Pope is not a mainstream artist. "A drop in the ocean. A change in the weather. I was praying that you and me might end up together". Means he is still friends with her, but the whole time he has always wanted more. She may have rejected him in the past, but she wish to remain friends, and he accepts it, instead of walking away from the friendship. His emotions is further exemplified in the next two lines. "It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert. But I'm holding you closer than most 'cause you are my heaven? He needs her badly in his life. More than just a friend, and he is having a hard time moving on and meeting new people, because she is still his "heaven". This next line shows she has no romantic feelings from him. "I don't wanna waste the weekend. If you don't love me pretend". This song becomes sad in this next verse. It seems she is being selfish by holding on to him, instead of setting him free. "Don't take what you don't need from me".
I think the feelings expressed in the song are a sort of disappointment and lack of belief regarding the inevitable end of a romance. 'A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather' I think the drop represents a random point in time or a random occurrence and the change in the weather represents the change of the dynamic of the relationship. 'Praying that you and me might end up together', shows that there was a plan for a long term commitment (marriage or something of the sort). 'Wishing for rain as I stand in the desert' this is what gives away the deterioration of the love, as the desert is dry and dull while the rain isn't perfect but represents movement. In my eyes that gives away that the passion in the relationship is ending, like its getting boring or there is nothing more to learn about each other... something like that. There is also a hint of a long distance relationship as it seems that the lyrical 'me' is traveling down for a weekend... i think the reference might suggests that maybe the distance has part of the blame. Otherwise he strengthens the idea that he is devastated and still in love while he feels that the passion is gone but since he is madly in love he still wants to try and asks not to get taken advantage of. But yea i dont wanna bore anyone any longer :P
