Hi Everyone!
I am Utkarsh, a fourth year undergraduate student at IIT Bombay, India. I am interested in the project "Lightweight chat plugin for the JBrowse genome browser" and I would like you guys to guide me on that.
I participated in GSoC 2015 with CiviCRM and had a fantastic experience working with them. My project last year involved working with emails and was written almost entirely in Javascript, which is why I am quite familiar with Node.js and AngularJS. It also had a small GUI part to it and I am comfortable with HTML and CSS as well. You can find the project at my github page.
My inexperience in bioinformatics and genomics can be a challenge but I would be willing to put in the extra effort. Looking forward to hearing back from you guys.

Regards,
Utkarsh Sharma

Dear Utkarsh,
Thank you for expressing an interest in the Open Genome Informatics group. I have cc’d Ian Holmes, who will be mentoring this project and will have a better understanding of the project requirements than I.
Good luck with your application.

Thanks Robin!
Hi Ian, can you give me some pointers or warm up tasks so I can get started? I looked into Faye pub/sub and I'm now looking at JBrowse and trying to get used to it.

Utkarsh Sharma
