I think there needs to be some consistency in how genie handles cards
with discard-from-tableau powers like "doomed world" and "new military
tactics". with new military tactics, there is immediately a "use new
military tactics" option, which you click and gain 3 temporary military
—very straight-forward.

with doomed world, however, you have to choose the world you want to
settle—*then* the "use doomed world" option comes up.

I understand why this is (you gain the temporary military, then
conquer the world; you settle the world, then pay for it with doomed
world) but it's very confusing if you've never done it before, and it
can cost you a game. for instance, I—expecting it to work the same
way as new military tactics—when choosing which world to settle,
checked doomed world (thinking that might be how to use it) and was
then give the option to use doomed world. then when I had picked
that, doomed world disappeared from my tableau, and nothing was
settled. So I guess it had interpreted that as me wanting to settle
doomed world (even though it was in my tableau already), and wanting
to pay for it with that same doomed world.

That really sounds more like a bug than anything. If you check
something in your tableau when you're supposed to check something in
your hand, it just shouldn't accept it.

Right, I guess my topic is two-fold: first, that I was able to do that
is a bug; and second, the reason I did that in the first place is
because the interface is confusing.

I think that the reason new military tactics has to work the way it
does,is that you are discarding the card to give yourself 3 extra
military for that turn - not to pay for a world. This can actually
matter when you combo it with improved logistics,as you can then use
it to help you conquer two worlds.
In the case of doomed world,if it didn't work that way
you could sacrifice it when you had no valid worlds to settle in order
to avoid having the minus one point, and you aren't supposed to be able
to do that.Or else, you might find yourself unable to ever complete
your move -depending on how the system worked.
On the subject of the system
accepting erroneous moves,I have accidentally ticked too many cards to
pay for something. The system accepted the cards in tableau order [top
left to right, followed by bottom left to right].I wound up paying the
correct number of cards, but including a card I had intended to
keep. That is a bug - it should have refused my instruction and made me
select the correct number of cards.
