Hi,

I have reserved resources at the two racks in Kentucky- lan.uky.sdn.edu(red coloured AM) and uky.emulab.net(blue coloured AM). When I try to extend the reservation for these two VMs through the GENI portal, I see only 1 resource- Kentucky InstaGENI
Is this a common resource to both the racks in Kentucky? If I extend this resource, would this apply to both the VMs at the racks in Kentucky?

Thanks,
Aditi

Hi Aditi,

Lan.sdn.uky.edu and uky.emulab.net are two separate aggregates at the U.
of Kentucky. The first is an InstaGENI rack and the second is an
instance of the Emulab testbed.

Since these are separate aggregates, you have to separately extend the
expiration for your resources on those aggregates.

I tried to recreate your setup to see if I could reproduce the problem
you are seeing. I was unable to reproduce it.

I suggest you first verify you indeed have resources at both aggregates.
You can do this by pinging them (if you asked for public IP addresses)
or by ssh'ing into them.

Then send to this list the results of the above test and the name of
your slice. If you indeed have two VMs at Kentucky, we can then try to
figure out why you see only one of them at the Portal.

This is what I did to try to reproduce your problem:
- Used Flack to get a Xen VM at lan.sdn.uky.edu and another at
uky.emulab.net.
- Went to the Portal and did a "Get All" under Slice Status in the
page for details on my slice.
- I was able to see my resources at both aggregates. They both
showed sliver expiration times that matched my slice expiration time.
- Extended my slice expiration time.
- Extended the sliver expiration time for one of the aggregates.
That succeeded. "Get All" under status showed the new expiration time.
- Did the same for the other aggregate. That too succeeded.

Best wishes,

< Vic
