Dear GENI experimenter,

The InstaGENI team is making more Xen VMs available to experimenters by converting the OpenVZ VM servers on most racks to Xen VM servers.  After the conversion, OpenVZ will be available on the following 5 racks:
bbn-ig
nysernet-ig
stanford-ig
ucla-ig
utah-ig
On all of the above racks, pc1 will be the OpenVZ VM server and pc2 and pc3 will be Xen VM servers.

Timeline for the conversion:

The following applies only to racks not listed above.   The above five racks will not be affected in any way.
Starting Friday Jan. 9:
Users cannot create new or renew existing OpenVZ VMs.  You can continue to use existing VMs.
After Jan. 16:
A few racks a time will have their OpenVZ servers converted to Xen servers.  Slices using OpenVZ servers on the racks will be terminated and all resources held by the slice on the racks being converted will be lost.  Experimenters will be given at least a 24-hour notice before they lose their resources.

Please email instagen...@geni.net if you have any questions or concerns about this conversion.

Hi all, just a heads up that this step has been completed.
