Hi,

I have created a topology using Xen VMs. The VMs are connected via gre tunnels. Currently the hosts don't have public IPs. Is there a way I can assign public IPs to the hosts after they have been reserved or will I have to create a new slice and assign routable IPs before I press submit while reserving resources on Flack?

Thanks,
Aditi

You will have to create a new slice.

cheers,

Thanks. Just to confirm, in order to get a routable IP, do I need to select routable control IP under the properties tab?

Hi,

I reserved a VM with a routable public IP.  On Flack I can see the private IP addresses for the VMs. But, when I ssh to the machine, and run ifconfig -a, I see only the public ip interface.
Is there a way to get both the public and private ip addresses on the hosts?

Hi Aditi,

What do you mean about a private IP address?

So in your hosts you should have:
* 1 control interface
* 1 dataplane interface/link the VM is connected to

The control interface can have a public IP address (if you ask for one)
*or* a NATed (private) one. Each interface is associated with only one
IP address.

You will only get dataplane interfaces if there is at least one link
connecting your VM to other hosts. All the dataplane IPs are private.

If this is not what you are asking maybe send us along a topology in
Flack and your slice name.

Best,
Niky

Hey Niky,

The dataplane interfaces are missing on my hosts, only the public IP interfaces are up. It suddenly struck me that when we create a topology using Xen VMs connected via l3 tunnels, we have to manually change the gre tunnels to egre tunnels. I guess that should solve this problem.
Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks.

Aditi
