My slice is doneillExp1. GENI desktop is telling me that the hostname for my GEMINI global node at Illinois (pcvm2-3.instageni.illinois.edu) does not exist yet I'm able to ssh into it using that hostname just fine. Does anyone have any idea what can be going on here?

Nevermind, after refreshing for the seventh time that problem has resolved itself but now I'm getting a failed to initialize error on the same slice.

Hi Derek,
   From what i see, the DNS for the illinios rack seems to be flaky. It resolves the name for the GN node for 5 min and then just stops resolving. I had seen this behaviour before at the Northwestern rack too but for a different reason.

So my advice here is to avoid the Northwester and Illinois rack for the time being until i get this issue resolved with the Racks admins.

Hi Derek,
 There seems to be a problem on the nodes at the illinois rack.
Can you please add  the following string on a new line in "/root/.ssh/authorized_keys" to all the illinios rack nodes in your slice.

ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAABIwAAAQEAtel3SoMV/Uk9dKMqrFiWHCibL8nl69Dxgqu3+HimQFmpvVk/mGEx7DwfuEP4uZS1cGPtkd81OoBhKaWclUwDngKrP7+Ljm4MZlV40sV7N/FUUKm47VHArDXsR5p2cLWgEdUMnEk88KTqPA+MOQunLZmqaJgDHyXQ0ptsLJqc84BDFmCwHbAn+wbcnK+DTpBhgX1Tzy/HO+yOI+iLR5eRDQ4DRBZzNJS177Cz9m3WHmteM0zPhxm3lerflXukkXzaHPlM3s5fpqQxuRYiwh41a1kzKqzgmnfyurR4URKB1qJT26KarFMG32GhODDvovmoikT8qDuByNZPqFIH0igidQ== www-data@portal

This way i can login and check what went wrong.

Hi Derek,
 I had tried your experment just too wher ethe problem was. It looks like the DNS at illinois takes about 30 minutes to stabilize. Once i tried  30 minutes after the experiment went ready, the instrumentation worked fine. I am taking this issue up the dev folks, but thought I'd let you know how things went
Thanks, should be done.

Hi Derek,

   What you have is a mixed state that has never been tested before. I could suggest you a hack but am not sure it will work. So the safest way is to delete this slice and start a fresh.

Thanks for all of your help. Right now on GENI desktop my slice status is mixed so I can't initialize or instrumentize it. It says the status of my GPOlab GN is Initialization_Complete but the Illinois GN is status Created.
